Lan went through a similar ordeal once (http://lanbui.com/2007/05/14/creative-commons-podtechnet-doesnt-respect-my-copyright/) and after contacting them several times with no responses he blogged about it, and when his post got noticed by some people the company quickly started to respond.

In this age of open media people need to be careful of the things they do. Terry not only took your image but then lied about where he got it. That was pretty lame and not very intelligent, but I understand his motives. He didn't want to be perceived poorly so he created a story and planned on fixing the image/credit, thinking that would be enough. This probably would have worked with 95% of the people out there... but you were smart and looked deeper and found that he had lied about it. Props to you for your diligence.

I agree that having a link put on an OLD blog post or article does nothing for you as a photographer, since archived posts don't get much traffic. So they end up getting all the benefits of using your image and you get nothing more than a half hearted apology. The claims of ignorance are probably true in some cases, but not in most... especially places like Flickr, where the copyright or CC license is displayed on each photo and most people at least understand what All Rights Reserved means.

Anyhow, good job in doing what you could to resolve this issue.

Also... how have we not met? It seems like we know a lot of the same people?!?!?
