I wonder if a gel over the flash could have warmed up the subject just a tad (to compliment the sunset).

&lt;em&gt;Mike, Yes a 1/8 or 1/4 CTO (color temp orange) gel could have been used.  I gel sometimes to change the color temp, however in a case like this, I would typically warm it up in post processing, then use a mask to &quot;undo&quot; the warm color in places where I wouldn&#039;t want it as warm.
